Facing defeat, McConnell pulls Senate GOP’s ObamaCare repeal bill from vote

Source: Newsday

“The latest version of the Obamacare repeal bill was pulled from a vote Tuesday by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in the face of certain defeat after at least three Republican senators announced they would vote against it. The collapse of the last-gasp effort by Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) served up another setback to McConnell and President Donald Trump, one likely to frustrate supporters expecting them to fulfill their promise to end the Affordable Care Act. McConnell said the Senate would now move on to a federal income tax overhaul, whose principles and outline will be announced Wednesday by Trump, and a federal spending bill for the rest of the fiscal year after the current temporary funding runs out in December. But Graham and Cassidy said they’re not done yet.” (09/26/17)
