Waymo sought $1 billion from Uber to make frivolous lawsuit go away

"New details were brought to light in the contentious legal battle pitting ride-hailing giant Uber against Alphabet's self-driving unit Waymo. Waymo sought a minimum of $1 billion in damages and for Uber to issue a public apology as the conditions to settle the tumultuous legal battle in which Waymo sued the rideshare company over allegedly trying to poach staff and steal [sic] data, according to Reuters. Waymo has also reportedly asked that an independent monitor be appointed to carefully watch over Uber's productions to ensure it is not stealing [sic] its technology. Uber has rejected those terms as 'non-starters,' the report said." (10/12/17)
